Who prepares our content

All content and templates published on WillSafe UK are prepared by WSC Group Ltd, trading as WillSafe UK, a company registered in England and Wales (Co. No. 17117072). Our content is produced with reference to the primary legislation and official guidance listed below.

Legislative and regulatory references

Every will template and related guide is prepared with reference to:

  • Wills Act 1837 — the principal statute governing the creation and execution of wills in England and Wales, including the requirements for signing and witnessing set out in section 9.
  • Administration of Estates Act 1925 — the statute that governs how estates are administered and distributed on intestacy where no valid will exists.
  • HMRC Inheritance Tax guidance — including HMRC manuals on the nil-rate band, residence nil-rate band, and exemptions, so that our supporting guides reflect current IHT rules.
  • Mental Capacity Act 2005 — relevant to our Lasting Power of Attorney guidance and to the testamentary capacity statements included in our will templates.

Scope of our templates

Our templates are self-help tools designed for straightforward estates in England and Wales. They are suitable for adults aged 18 or over who are domiciled in England or Wales and whose affairs do not involve significant complexity.

Our templates are not suitable, and we recommend consulting a qualified solicitor, if your estate involves any of the following:

  • Business assets, shareholdings, or partnership interests
  • Foreign property or assets held outside England and Wales
  • Blended families, stepchildren, or disputed family arrangements
  • Trusts, life interests, or disabled beneficiary provisions
  • Significant inheritance tax planning requirements
  • Domicile outside England and Wales (including Scotland, Northern Ireland, or overseas)

What our content is not

WillSafe UK is a trading name of WSC Group Ltd. We are not solicitors, CILEx practitioners, barristers, or authorised persons under the Legal Services Act 2007. Our products are self-help templates, not legal advice. Will-writing is not a reserved legal activity under the Legal Services Act 2007; any adult may prepare their own will.

If you are in any doubt about whether our products are right for your circumstances, please consult a qualified solicitor.

Keeping content current

We review our templates and guides when relevant legislation or official guidance changes. Each product page and article displays the date it was last reviewed. If you believe any content is out of date, please contact us at richard@willsafe.org.uk.
