How these tools fit together

Most people start with the Do I Need a Will? quiz: eight questions that map your family and property situation to the kit (if any) that fits it. If you already have a will, the Will Health Check tests whether marriage, divorce, a new child or a house move has quietly broken it, marriage, for example, revokes an existing will under section 18 of the Wills Act 1837 unless it was made in contemplation of that marriage.

The two calculators handle the money questions. The Inheritance Tax Calculator estimates the bill on your estate under the current rules and shows what the April 2027 pension change would add. The Intestacy Calculator shows exactly where your estate goes if you die without a will, including the result most people find shocking: a cohabiting partner inherits nothing under the intestacy rules.

Two more calculators cover the cost questions. The Will Cost Calculator compares a DIY kit with the typical solicitor fee for a will, and the Probate Cost Calculator weighs the DIY probate application fee against a solicitor handling the whole estate.
