About this template
WillSafe Platinum is the easiest way to get your will out of your head and onto paper. Instead of staring at a blank template, you answer plain-English questions, by speaking into your microphone or by typing, and WillSafe assembles a proper last will and testament for England and Wales from your answers.
When you finish, we email you the will as an editable Word document. Answer every recommended question and it arrives as a final draft, ready for you to print and sign with two witnesses. Skip a few and it arrives as a clearly labelled working draft that lists exactly what is left, so you can come back, fill the gaps and generate it again. There is no limit on how many times you can rebuild it.
Your microphone answers are transcribed inside your own browser, so the recording never reaches us. Your answers are not stored on our servers, and the finished document is emailed to you and not kept afterwards.
Platinum includes everything in the Single Will Kit as well: the full editable template, the plain-English guidance booklet, the pre-completion checklist and the step-by-step witnessing instructions. It suits people with a straightforward estate who would rather talk it through than fill in a form. If your affairs are complex (trusts, business or agricultural assets, foreign property or significant inheritance tax exposure) we say so plainly and suggest a solicitor.
This may not be right for you if…
- •Blended families needing trusts
- •Foreign property or non-UK domicile
- •Business or agricultural assets needing a tax-efficient structure (see a solicitor)
In these cases, we recommend speaking to a solicitor.
Questions about this kit
How does answering by voice work?+
Each free-text question has a microphone button. Tap it, speak your answer and it is typed into the box for you, where you can edit it before moving on. The speech is transcribed inside your own browser, so the audio is never sent to WillSafe or anyone else. If your browser does not support voice, the button simply does not appear and you type instead. Voice works in Chrome, Edge and Safari.
What is the difference between a final draft and a working draft?+
A final draft means you have answered every recommended question, including naming a back-up executor and telling us whether you have children under 18 who need a guardian. A working draft is produced when some of those recommended answers are still missing; it is a complete, usable document but its first page lists what is left so you can finish it. Either way, a will only becomes legally valid once you print it and sign it correctly in front of two witnesses.
Is this legal advice?+
No. WillSafe Platinum is a self-help service that merges your answers into standard will wording. We are not a firm of solicitors and we do not give legal advice. For complex estates, speak to a solicitor.
Do you keep my answers or my will?+
No. Your answers stay on your own device while you work, the finished document is generated in the moment, emailed to you and not stored on our servers afterwards.
